Stop doing this in Porn

I’ve been on thousands of sets and cut almost as many scenes. There have been times, as an editor, when I’ve scratched my head and wondered how some lack common sense. Or a basic understanding of civil and criminal laws. Here’s a list of things I wish pornographers would stop doing:

  1. Please stop shooting in public. From the need for model releases to the chances of getting caught. It’s just not worth the pain. And please stop shooting while copywritten music is blaring. I doubt anyone’s joining a site because a chick is getting her guts rearranged while an Ariana Grande song is playing.
  2. Please periodically check your equipment. It’s always best to spot an issue BEFORE you start shooting. Thankfully, post-production software has improved in fixing audio and visual issues. Kind of.. But please have your shit together before shooting.
  3. To piggyback on the issue mentioned above, please stop using your editor to fix every mistake. Yes, shit happens. But constantly relying on someone to fix your mistakes is just evil.
  4. Stop booking talent that doesn’t respect your time. There were many times when the same talent would arrive late to the set–and I’m not talking about a few minutes. I’m talking about hours. It’s unfair to the company and crew.

I’m sure there’s more, but I’m on little sleep since the Denver Broncos won the AFC West.
